Elective Referrals

Referral to the gynaecological clinic is from your GP by letter or fax to the gynaecology clinic. Details will include your date of birth, contact details including a daytime telephone number and any stated preference for an individual consultant.  Upon receipt, the letter is reviewed by the doctor or clinical midwife/nurse manager  and an appointment is allocated according to priority and availability at the clinics.

Emergency Referrals

To ensure you receive appropriate care we discourage 'walk-ins' without prior communication. If you need to be seen urgently, your GP should contact the registrar on call and give you a referral letter with the name of the doctor that your GP has liaised with. During clinic times, emergency referrals are reviewed in the Gynaecology clinic. After clinic times, women with emergency gynaecological problems are reviewed on the first floor. These referrals include referrals from A/E Departments of St Michaels Dun Laoghaire, St Columcilles's Loughlinstown and St Vincents University Hospital (SVUH).
