Complex Menopause Service

Welcome to the “Complex Menopause Service” at The NMH

The National Maternity Hospital is proud to have a Complex Menopause Clinic. Launched in January 2022 and supported by funding from the Department of Health and HSE’s National Women & Infants Programme, this service is dedicated to helping women with serious medical conditions to manage their Menopausal symptoms.

The clinic is staffed by GP Menopause Specialists, a full-time Nurse Specialist and a friendly administrative team.

Most patients, who are troubled by menopause symptoms, are able to receive advice and treatment in the community through their GP, Practice Nurse or Family Planning Clinic. Unfortunately, patients with certain medical conditions including thrombosis, cardiovascular disease, cerebrovascular disease, hormone sensitive cancers, etc. are advised to be seen by a “Menopause Specialist” to discuss management options.

We will be that Complex Menopause Service. Appointments can only be offered to suitable patients via GP referral. If you suffer from any of the conditions listed above and are a potential patient, please attend your GP first to see if you are eligible for referral.

A PDF of the appointment request form can be found in the blue bar below. Please ask your GP to download and complete this form on your behalf and send it back to the clinic for review. Our Complex Menopause Service administrator will get in touch with you directly if you are suitable.

We are currently accepting referrals from South Dublin, Kildare, Wicklow, Kilkenny and Wexford. There are additional specialist Menopause services provided in the Rotunda Hospital, Dublin, Cork University Maternity Hospital, Galway University Hospital, The Coombe Hospital and Nenagh Hospital, Tipperary.
