Gynaecology Inpatient Stays
Women admitted major Gynaecology surgery should be prepared to stay in hospital for 2 – 5 days. The length of stay may vary depending on your particular health needs. You will need to bring a small bag with your toiletries, towels, sanitary wear, night wear, dressing gown, slippers and spare underwear. You should leave any jewellery or other valuables at home to keep them safe while you are in hospital.
You will be told in advance what time you should arrive at the hospital. When you arrive, please check in with the Admissions Office located on the ground floor. Admissions Staff will review your contact details as well as your Health Insurance information and then bring you up to the Gynaecology Ward (Unit 4). On the ward you will be seen by the midwife/nurse and the doctor. If you are taking any medication, please bring it with you.
When you are ready for discharge, you should organise for somebody to collect you and take you home. A follow up appointment will be arranged for you and we will send a letter to your GP informing them of your stay.
If you require a letter for work, please request this before you are discharged so as not to delay your discharge. If you need a social welfare certificate you can get it from your GP.
